Welcome to CHABLIS
The Center on Healthy Aging Behaviors and Longitudinal Investigations (CHABLIS) was created to promote a sustained research and infrastructure development program and leverage longitudinal data, from both observational and interventional studies, to examine how demographic and economic factors facilitate or suppress individual healthy aging behaviors (HABs) and, in turn, influence outcomes among older adults over the life course. Through this infrastructure, we aim to enhance and lead innovation in the demography and economics of aging and cultivate the next generation of leaders in social science approaches to aging research with attention to demographic methods and approaches.
Spanning five divisions and schools at the University of Chicago, and partnering with the National Opinion Research Center (NORC), CHABLIS brings together over fifty center affiliates from the across the biological and social sciences who represent many areas of expertise and multiple methodologies in the demography and economics of aging. CHABLIS also partners with Duke University’s Center for the Study of Aging and Human Development on a number of rapid assessment projects and is proud to be among the broader network of NIA funded P30 Centers on the Demography and Economics of Aging.
CHABLIS is funded by the National Institute on Aging, award P30AG066619.
